UniMem Membrane Degasser

Effective Oxygen Removal for District Heating and Industry
With UniMem membrane deaerators, you can remove dissolved oxygen from the water and thereby reduce the risk of corrosion in your system. The technology uses membranes, vacuum, and nitrogen to remove the oxygen without adding chemicals to the water.
With two membranes, typically more than 99.5% of the dissolved oxygen is removed. UniMem is well-suited for district heating and the process industry, where low oxygen content is important for water quality and the protection of plant components.
Benefits of UniMem
- Effective oxygen removal: Typically removes over 99.5% of dissolved oxygen using two membranes.
- Corrosion protection: Reduces the contribution of oxygen to corrosion in the system.
- Compact design: Requires minimal floor space.
- Simple integration: The control system is integrated into the existing RO system.
- Easy maintenance: Easy access to components and simple replacement of membranes.
How Membrane Stripping Works
The water is passed through a membrane module containing hydrophobic hollow-fiber membranes. The membranes allow gases to pass through while retaining the water.
Using a vacuum and nitrogen as a purging gas, a pressure difference is created that draws the dissolved oxygen out of the water. A flow meter measures the water flow and activates the nitrogen supply and the vacuum pump when the system is in operation.
Designed for your system
UniMem is adapted to the operating conditions and the desired oxygen content. Water temperature plays a major role in sizing the system, since cold water can hold more dissolved oxygen than warm water.
In collaboration with the membrane supplier, we calculate the expected oxygen removal so that the system can be sized for the specific application.
The system uses nitrogen with a purity of at least 99.5%. Higher purity may improve the results.
Option for additional equipment
UniMem is available with the following features, among others:
- Oxygen measurement with separate display and signal output.
- Nitrogen generator and buffer tank.
- Automated procedures in the event of a prolonged shutdown.
